Looking For Poems In The Corners

Some insane and losing recommendations to spend a different book day: poems that are like life preservers, hurts, joys and orgasms.

Dear Insane Minds,

The day of the book is approaching, the best of the year for one who is a writer / reader and we already know that the goat is me, it throws to the mountain, like a good goat.

Among all the advertising campaigns about books that there are these days, I like, like at parties, like in bookstores, to go to those corners where there are uncomfortable people who cannot find their friends, or half-lost books who do not know which tag to fit.

In the corners, without a doubt, there are the most interesting parts of life : the center is so illuminated that it does not hold any surprises.

So here is my bet on losing poets in the best sense of the word. Poets who do not write to gain anything because writing is not about that, but about things hurting you and you don’t know where to get them if it is not looking for other wounds that join yours.

And whoever says wounds, that I’m getting very serious, says joy, says orgasms, says illusions, says futures.

Ana G. Aupi and her Geography of my body ,That has me fried, the truth. As I am bored by social things in general and literary things in particular, and people – general and literary – I don’t like with exceptions, I had not come across the Aupi or the presentations of her book. I had not found out, wow.

Until one day, by one of those coincidences, it happened. And I almost died. When he was waiting for another urban exercise in rhyming gossip, his poetry appeared broken, out of tune, half out of tune with no intention of going out of tune.

Because this book is not about tuning, but about life.

And for many days I couldn’t get that out of my head and that’s why we are here. Because a book that hooks you like this well deserves that all the Insane Minds keep it company.

Txus García and his This Twisted Love , that three-quarters of the same. Like a photo torn to pieces in a moment of anger that you later rebuild every tearful piece by piece. Well so. La García has taken the album of her life, of laughter, crying, orgasms, pumpkins and precariousness and has torn it into a thousand pieces to return it to us in the form of poems.

And you are recognizing things of yours: I also had that lack, I also went on an excursion there, my heart has been broken in that strange way, I also like cats…. Do we take the last one?

And so, you read and you are more and more inside.

Reading ends up being a conversation in an ordinary bar with someone who is so much like you that you feel less alone and more content.

As I only have one position left and I do not believe in mathematics because I always failed, or vice versa, I am going to fill it with a lot of poets of those who do have diffusion but if we have not read yet we are missing the best of the life:

Gloria Anzaldua, in poetry, essays, or whatever you want, Audre Lorde, well the same, in any format, in any way and at any time. Lynn Margulis who no, is not a poet but a biologist or something like that, something about small things and curious lives, but who writes about biology in a poetic way and with a philosophical background. So that they ask her if letters or science, let’s go …

And, of course, the Greatest, like the Jury, our wonderful Maria Mercè Marçal, too, in all formats and in all languages.

Happy book day and happy week, Minds!
