Make Your Own Dust Spray At Home

1. Higher humidity in the air

Adequate humidity in the air not only allows you to breathe better, it prevents fine particles from flying and thus effectively reduces the amount of dust reaching higher surfaces. The risk of contagion by viruses that “travel” on board the dust particles (aerosols) is also reduced.

Prevent the air from drying out by not turning the heater warmer than necessary and ventilating frequently. Intermittent ventilation (several times a day) is more effective than leaving the window open for a long time. Less dust from outside traffic and pollen from plants gets in, which is important for people with allergies. Intermittent ventilation also saves energy because the room will not get as cold.

2. Humidifiers and indoor plants

A humidity level in the air of around 50% is best suited for the respiratory tract and the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes. Electric humidifiers are even more effective and especially recommended for allergy sufferers. How to make your own dust spray: recipe

The spray can be made quickly and with inexpensive raw materials.

Ingredients:

• 500 ml of very soft water (use distilled water if necessary).
• 8 tablespoons of table vinegar (5% acid content) or diluted concentrated vinegar (4 parts water, 1 part vinegar essence).
• 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
• ½ teaspoon of liquid vegetable oil soap or ecological liquid detergent.
• 10-20 drops of essential oil (optional, for a pleasant aroma).
• Empty spray bottle (you can recycle one from a commercial cleaning product).

Elaboration:

1. Clean the inside of the bottle with soap and water.
2. Fill it with water and add the rest of the ingredients.
3. Shake vigorously to mix the water and oil before each use.

Use the anti-dust spray and keep dirt at bay

You can use the sprayer on all smooth surfaces, such as furniture or electronic devices. Just spray it on and wipe it off with a soft cloth.

Whether you use a wet or dry cloth depends on the surface material where the dust is accumulated. When cleaning with a damp cloth, scratches may remain that you can remove by wiping them with a dry cloth.
